Some names entered my mind, but do I really admire them.

Someone i admire is my last literature teacher. her name is Sarah. She has 31 years old. One year ago i hated literature but in the middle of Academic year I felt i'm in love with this subject and Sarah is the reason. I wasn't good in this subject,but then she helped me to learn it better and now I'm the best student in literature class :) Sarah is the reason why... She will not teach me literature for ever...but she said "If you want to make me happy, just be the best" .


Then I realized who I really admire: Britney Spears....

Anyway, I need to tell you this because of something tacked on my wall....

But since everyone is told they must go to college, it becomes easier to raise prices on everything associated with it. My generation’s desperation to attain their degree means that they will pay rapidly rising tuition, even at state schools which were created so that all could afford a college education. When colleges raise their selectivity and standards (often code for raising their tuition), they become the means to chain those who are told they need them. Students sign on for decades of debt for a degree that many couldn’t care less about.

In my own experience, I find that college today has become a business, and a highly profitable one at that. Beginning in high school, the average student pays to take the standardized tests required by admissions, if not classes and books to prepare. Then come the onslaught of application fees, entrance fees and tuition, which even at state schools continues to rise higher and higher. And finally, there is the price of books, which in and of itself smacks of racketeering. As a student, I was relieved when my textbooks were only $300 per quarter, and lucky when I was able to sell them back for a quarter of their original worth. Imagine my surprise when I went to the bookstore and was told that my books had no value. How could a book have no value?

In truth, no one absolutely needs a bachelor’s degree to live. In fact, some of the most successful people in their fields today may not have one. The internet and the rise of computer technology has opened an entire field to people with drive who don’t need a degree, only personal motivation. So why does America’s youth flock in mass droves to college every autumn?

I was told that college would be the greatest experience of my life. I would be free to choose my own path and I would find out exactly who I was. But on campus, it didn’t seem as though the student body was working too hard on discovering itself. Those who wanted to continue to graduate school were far too focused on their grades and contacts to do much else. The rest of my peers seemed to be only working towards that piece of paper, and usually for their parents, or simply because they knew that nowadays, it is an absolute necessity.
